Samuel Umuchukwu, popularly known as De Samist, is a Nigerian High Spirited Afrocentric Soul artiste celebrated for his powerful vocals and soul-lifting lyrics. His sound uniquely blends traditional gospel with contemporary Afrobeat rhythms, creating music that uplifts, energizes, and inspires.

Born into a family deeply rooted in music and ministry, De Samist is the son of a pastor. Both of his parents are musicians, and he was introduced to music at an early age, learning to play drums directly from his mother. He’s a member of the Redeemed Church. This strong foundation shaped his passion for gospel music and continues to influence his ministry today.
In a historic milestone, De Samist became the first artiste/producer and the second male to be signed to the prestigious EeZee Conceptz GLOBAL, a powerhouse label known for shaping some of Africa’s leading gospel voices.

In fact, it was Dr. EeZee himself who coined and defined De Samist’s signature sound as “High-Spirited Afrocentric Soul”, a genre that captures his unique ability to fuse African rhythms, gospel truth, and soulful delivery into one powerful expression.

A graduate of Computer Science from the prestigious Niger Delta University, De Samist is a multi-instrumentalist, proficient in drums, keys, and guitar.
